The victim stated that on 8/14/2024, at approximately 0947 hours, he received a text message from someone he believed was his boss requesting that he purchase gift cards for him. He was unsure why his boss needed gift cards but his boss stated it was urgent. The victim did not want to question his boss as he was only on his second day. The victim then proceeded to purchase six $200 and one $400 Apple gift cards from Best Buy. Upon purchasing the gift cards, he texted them to who he believed was his boss. The victim began to get a bit suspicious as more gift cards were being requested. He reached to out his coworker and was informed that phone number was not known to the company. This is when the victim believed it was a scam and reached out to Apple customer service and was informed all the funds in the gift cards were gone. |

Victims parked their vehicles on the street in front of a residence and went to bed at about 2230 hours. At about 0900 hours a neighbor indicated that the trunk of the vehicle was open. The vehicle owner noticed that he was missing his vehicle registration, proof of insurance, two pairs of sunglasses, and a phone charger. At about 1500 hours, the second victim noticed that several items were also missing from his vehicle, including the vehicle registration, the manual for his truck, a jacket, a trumpet mouthpiece, and a flashlight. There were no signs of forced entry to either vehicle and it is believed both of the vehicles were unlocked. |

The victim stated she was involved in a discussion with someone on Facebook that she thought was a personal friend. The victim described her conversation as a transaction for a hot tub, to which the holder of the account requested a $300 deposit. The victim sent the deposit through Zelle but realized something was wrong when the holder of the account demanded more funds. The victim then contacted her friend directly via text to pull out of the transaction, but her friend explained that her Facebook account had previously been hacked and she was not selling a hot tub. |

On 08/19/2024 at approximately 1604 hours, vandalism occurred in the parking lot on Foothills Boulevard. When the victim returned to his vehicle after working out, he found that the rear tires had been slashed. The victim believed that this crime stemmed from a road rage incident that occurred when he was driving on his way to the gym. Investigators at Roseville PD were able to utilize traffic camera footage to locate the event and the vehicles involved. Video surveillance from area business also identified the same vehicle entering the parking lot where a male exited the driver seat and approached the parked victim's vehicle. Due to other vehicles in the parking lot, the slashing could not be observed directly; however, after the second tire was slashed the Suspect sprinted back to his vehicle. The victim performed a sequential photo lineup and positively identified the suspect. The suspect was contacted at his residence where he admitted to having been in a road rage incident with the victim and was booked for vandalism. |

Victim stated that on 8/13/2024 at approximately 1620 hours he arrived at the gym and returned to the locker room at 1730 hours to discover that his locker had been tampered with. The victim detailed the stolen items as several credit cards and $400 cash in the denomination of $100.00 bills. The victim added that he received a phone notification shortly after of a fraudulent purchase made inside the Galleria Mall for the amount of $2,133.45. Another charge was attempted on another card for $259.17 but was denied. Additional charges were made for $969.75 and $387.88 on a third stolen card. |

The victim said on 7/24/24, he received a message on his computer from Microsoft Defender Virus. He was unable to remove the message from his screen or access any programs on his computer. He tried restarting it, but still could not use his computer in a normal fashion with the Microsoft message still on screen. He called the number on the message which got him transferred to a male identifying himself as an FTC Commissioner. Suspect showed the victim an FTC badge with his name on it, and then cleared the virus from the victim's computer. He then informed the victim all his assets were in danger. The victim was told by the male suspect to purchase gold from J.M. Bullion. On 7/30/24, the victim went to his bank to complete the transaction of ($69,802.24) with J.M. Bullion with instructions from the male on how to do it. After the transaction, the victim was told by the male to wait for a secret service agent who would pick up the gold. The victim received the gold bars and secured them. On 8/6/24 at about 1230 hours, a male pulled into the parking lot in front of the victim's residence and parked. The victim was instructed to put the gold in the car through the window and then the vehicle drove away. The victim was told by the male that he would get a check for the same price as he paid for the gold ($69,802.24). On 8/20/24, the victim attempted to call the male to see when his check would come but the number was disconnected. On 8/20/24 at about 1151 hours, the victim looked up the FTC website and was advised it was a scam, where people pretended to be part of the FTC and requested money from others. |

On 08/16/2024 at approximately 0630 hours the victim noticed his driver’s front door was completely open and his driver’s passenger door was cracked. The victim stated he locked his vehicle the night before but left all four of the windows cracked approximately two inches. The victim stated that inside his vehicle was a toolbox containing multiple Milwaukee tools that were taken. |

The victim stated that he met a female on Facebook and had been exchanging messages for approximately a year, over Facebook Messenger as well as Zangi (a private messaging application). The victim provided the female with nude photos and videos. The female threatened to share the explicit photos and videos on the internet if the victim did not provide money to her and has been doing this for approximately a year. The female stated that she would put the photos in the newspaper and “send it all over the world”. The victim stated he gave the female approximately $2,500 over the past year. |
